RYEGATE, VT — A Peacham man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle rollover crash on U.S. Route 302.
Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to the crash near Church Street at approximately 7 p.m. Feb. 8, 2026.
The operator was identified as Mathew Costa, 38, of Peacham.
Troopers detected indicators of impairment while speaking with Costa.
Costa was transported to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries.
He was released from the hospital and placed under arrest.
Costa was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV4, which was totaled in the crash.
He was transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.
Costa was issued a citation and released.
He is scheduled to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on Feb. 23, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
Road conditions at the time of the crash were reported as light snow with clear weather.
