WESTMORELAND, NY — A Rome man was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge following a one-car crash in the Town of Westmoreland.
John Molnar, 27, of Rome, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, a class E felony, along with several traffic violations and one traffic misdemeanor, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
Road patrol deputies were dispatched to a property damage motor vehicle accident on Bartlett Road at around 8:18 p.m. on Feb. 11, 2026.
Deputies discovered the vehicle had struck a telephone pole and the operator had fled the scene on foot.
Molnar was located shortly after walking away from the accident scene.
Deputies detected indicators of impairment and conducted a DWI investigation.
Molnar was transported to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and was held in the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court.
The Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department and National Grid assisted at the scene.
