Couple arrested on animal cruelty charges in Marcy

MARCY, NY — A man and woman were arrested Feb. 11 following an animal cruelty investigation that began last fall, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.

Members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit and Susquehanna SPCA responded to Farmore Farm on Oct. 6, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m. regarding an animal cruelty investigation.

Investigators and veterinarians determined that multiple animals on the farm were lacking proper sustenance and medical treatment for multiple different issues.

Three of the animals were surrendered by the farm owners on Oct. 9, 2025, due to their condition and requiring immediate medical treatment.

A search warrant was executed at Farmore Farm on Oct. 21, 2025, resulting in the seizure of approximately 46 animals.

Gayle D. Bunn, 52, of Marcy, and Peter J. Bunn, 54, of Marcy, were each charged with nine counts of Agriculture and Markets Law 353 Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals, failure to provide proper sustenance, all misdemeanors.

Both were processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building, released, and issued appearance tickets returnable to Marcy Town Court at a later date.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted throughout the investigation by members of the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office, Susquehanna SPCA, Oneida Equine Service, Leatherstocking Veterinary Group, ASPCA, Rome Humane Society and multiple volunteers.
