GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — A residential fire that broke out late Saturday night required multiple fire departments to extinguish, according to the Galloway Township Police Department.
Officers and members of the Bayview and Oceanville volunteer fire departments responded to 629 Park Place at approximately 10:36 p.m. Feb. 8 for a report of a residence on fire.
The homeowner reported being awakened by the sound of smoke detectors and the smell of smoke.
Upon arrival, officers observed heavy smoke coming from the attached garage of the residence.
The fire quickly spread throughout the residence and took several hours to extinguish.
The response to the fire and the conditions on scene were exacerbated by extreme cold temperatures, ice and snow-covered property and surrounding areas.
All occupants exited safely and there were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear suspicious in nature.
Multiple fire departments assisted in the response, including the Bayview Fire Department, Oceanville Fire Department, Pomona Fire Department, Germania Fire Department, South Egg Harbor Fire Department, Port Republic Fire Department, ACY Fire Department and 177th Air Guard.
Galloway EMS, Galloway Township Public Works and the Galloway Office of Emergency Management also responded.
Additional fire departments from Atlantic County, Burlington County, Cape May County and Ocean County provided assistance.
