SOUTHEAST, NY — A deputy assigned to patrol observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Danbury Road swerving within its lane at approximately 2:10 a.m. Feb. 8.
A traffic stop was conducted, and the operator was identified as Jorge A. Maldonado Zabala, 23, of Bedford.
Maldonado Zabala displayed signs of intoxication and was unable to produce a valid driver’s license.
Further investigation revealed that his license was suspended due to a prior driving while intoxicated incident.
Maldonado Zabala was placed under arrest.
He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a felony, driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08% or more and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
He was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance.
In a separate incident at approximately 8:55 p.m. Feb. 8, deputies responded to the area of Peaceable Hill Road and Stone Ridge Road for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a snowbank.
The operator was identified as Luis A. Mcrea, 40, of Southeast.
Deputies observed signs of intoxication, and Mcrea failed standard field sobriety tests.
Mcrea was placed under arrest and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for processing.
He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years, a felony, driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years, a felony, two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, both felonies, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
Mcrea was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court and released on his own recognizance.
