BOSTON, MA — A Mattapan man was arrested on drug trafficking charges following a surveillance operation in the South End.
Officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District D-4 arrested David Myers, 50, of Mattapan, on Monday.
Officers were conducting a drug investigation in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street when they observed a male individual crouch low to the ground and a female picking up an unknown item from that location.
The female was seen placing the item in her mouth and walking away from the area.
Officers focused their surveillance on the male individual as a second person approached him.
Similar behavior occurred behind an electrical box in an attempt to conceal their actions, and officers believed a street level drug transaction had transpired.
Police monitored the suspect as he walked towards a bus kiosk.
Officers approached the suspect and identified themselves as Boston Police Officers.
As they attempted to detain the suspect, he refused to place his hands behind his back and tensed his body.
De-escalation techniques were used, and the suspect was placed into handcuffs.
A search incident to arrest recovered 16 plastic bags of fentanyl weighing approximately 27 grams, one plastic bag of powder cocaine weighing approximately 8 grams, 106 suboxone films, a digital scale and approximately $663 in U.S. currency.
Myers is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of trafficking of Class B substance, distribution of Class B substance, possession with intent to distribute Class A substance, possession with intent to distribute Class B substance and distribution of Class B drugs, second and subsequent offense.
