DENMARK, ME — A house fire Friday resulted in two explosions and left a farmhouse a complete loss.

The Denmark Fire Department responded to 316 E. Main Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. Feb. 6, 2026, for a reported structure fire.

Fire crews encountered heavy fire originating from the garage area upon arrival.

While crews were establishing a water supply, the fire intensified and caused two explosions within the main structure, creating unsafe conditions for interior fire suppression operations.

Firefighters transitioned to defensive operations as a result.

The homeowner and two tenants were able to escape the residence prior to being overcome by the fire.

The homeowner was treated at the scene for a minor burn injury.

One firefighter sustained an injury due to a fall caused by icy conditions and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An excavator was requested and utilized to assist with fire suppression efforts.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Preliminary findings indicate the fire may have originated from an electrical panel or a wall-mounted electric heater.

The Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to assist with the investigation in cooperation with the Denmark Fire Department.

No additional injuries were reported.
