SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A local man was arrested after police found him asleep at the wheel in an intersection Monday night.
Peter J. Santos, 49, of South Windsor, was taken into custody at 9:15 p.m. Monday in the area of Ellington Road and Buckland Road.
Officers responded to a report of a man asleep at the wheel of a motor vehicle stopped in the intersection.
Police were forced to break the vehicle’s window to gain access to Santos, who eventually woke up.
An on-scene investigation determined Santos had used and was in possession of narcotics, according to the South Windsor Police Department.
Santos failed a Standardized Field Sobriety Test and was taken into custody.
He was processed and released on a $5,000 non-surety bond.
Santos is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Feb. 23 at 9 a.m.
