FORESTPORT, NY — Sheriff’s deputies responded to a structure fire that left one person dead Saturday night in Oneida County.
Deputies were dispatched to 111 Deer Run Road at approximately 10:07 p.m. Feb. 8 for reports of a structure fire, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol.
Upon arrival, deputies found the residence fully involved with reports of an individual still inside.
After the fire was extinguished, an individual was located deceased inside the residence.
The name of the deceased individual is being withheld pending a positive identification by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office and next of kin notification.
The Forestport Fire Department, Woodgate Fire Department, Barneveld Fire Department, Remsen Fire Department, Stittville Fire Department, Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office, NorthStar Ambulance Service, Oneida County 911/Emergency Services, National Grid, Town of Forestport DPW and Bronze Contracting assisted at the scene.
