COHOES, NY — A man who menaced a neighbor with an electric chainsaw while wearing a clown mask has been sentenced to prison.
Craig Wolcott, 35, of Albany was sentenced Friday to 1½ to 4½ years in state prison.
His sentencing follows a two-day trial held in December where he was convicted of first-degree menacing, a class D felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class E felony.
Cohoes police received a call at approximately 2:40 p.m. May 1 concerning two men fighting in front of 120 Lancaster St.
Officers arrived shortly afterward and separated the two parties.
A witness told police that Wolcott was walking down the street wearing a clown mask and brandishing an electric chainsaw.
A neighbor asked Wolcott what he was doing, at which point he came toward the resident, menacing him with the chainsaw.
The resident restrained Wolcott until police arrived.
Wolcott was charged with three felonies: two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of first-degree menacing.
He was held and later remanded to Albany County Correctional Facility.
