DOVER, NY — A New Jersey man was arrested early Wednesday morning after deputies found him in a stolen vehicle stuck in a snowbank.
Julio Pineda, 46, of West New York, New Jersey, was taken into custody at approximately 1 a.m. on Route 22 in the Town of Dover, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office had been alerted to a pursuit involving police from Westchester and Putnam counties that was discontinued in the southern Dutchess County area near Pawling during the early morning hours.
Deputies were given a description of the vehicle involved in the pursuit.
Just before 1 a.m., a deputy located the vehicle stuck in a snowbank on Route 22.
Pineda was identified as the operator of the vehicle.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a suspected controlled substance in the vehicle and that the car had been reported stolen from New Jersey, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Pineda was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and fourth degrees, both felonies, as well as criminal possession of stolen property.
He was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Town of Dover Court at a later date.
