WEST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, PA — A 53-year-old man was arrested Saturday after police say he trespassed on two properties, including entering an occupied home.
Matthew J. Mumma, of Marietta, Pennsylvania, was arrested at 5:11 p.m. and charged with criminal trespass and defiant trespassing.
West Lampeter Township police were first dispatched at 12:30 p.m. to a residence in the 200 block of Peach Bottom Road for a report of suspicious activity and trespassing.
A homeowner reported observing a man on his property who had scaled an approximately six-foot fence to gain access.
The suspect left before officers arrived after the homeowner confronted him, and police were unable to locate him despite a thorough search of the area.
At approximately 5:11 p.m., police received another call reporting a man had entered an occupied home in the 200 block of Farm House Road.
Officers recognized the suspect description matched the earlier trespassing call and converged on the area.
Police stopped the suspect in the 2400 block of Willow Street Pike and identified him as Mumma.
Police said Mumma also had two outstanding criminal warrants from other law enforcement agencies.
Mumma was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Benner and committed to Lancaster County Prison, where he is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
