SECAUCUS, NJ — Two Jersey City men have been arrested in connection with the theft of a resident’s vehicle in November.

Daniel Cartagena-Guerro, 18, and Chase Baisden, 19, both of Jersey City, were arrested Feb. 5 at their residences by Secaucus Police detectives.

The investigation began Nov. 14 at 6:48 a.m. when a resident reported their 2018 Hyundai Elantra stolen from Pikeview Terrace.

Police located a similar Hyundai Elantra parked across the street from the resident’s home on Pikeview Terrace and determined it had been stolen from Jersey City earlier that morning.

On Nov. 16, the stolen 2018 Hyundai Elantra was recovered in Jersey City after it was involved in a crash with another vehicle.

The occupants fled the scene.

Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and identified Cartagena-Guerro and Baisden as suspects.

“Because the criminal element works tirelessly to prey on our residents, my detectives will work twice as hard to bring them to justice, and these arrests are evidence of just that,” Chief Dennis Miller said.

Both men are charged with receiving a motor vehicle and were lodged in the Hudson County Jail.
