Propane heater fire extinguished in Rhinebeck

RHINEBECK, NY — The Rhinebeck Fire Department responded to a propane heater fire at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds on Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the fairgrounds Milk House at approximately 3 p.m. for a reported fire with possible extension.

First-arriving units encountered heavy smoke showing from the building.

Fire crews quickly located and extinguished the fire, preventing further extension.

Overhaul operations were conducted to check for hidden fire and ensure complete extinguishment.

Damage was primarily contained to the milk house and the attic space.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

All Rhinebeck Fire Department units cleared the scene by approximately 4:10 p.m.

The Rhinebeck Fire Department was assisted on scene by Red Hook Fire Company and the Rhinebeck Police Department.

Rhinecliff Fire Department provided station coverage during the incident.

Operational support was provided by the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response.
