Nursing home worker charged with endangering welfare in Staatsburg

STAATSBURG, NY — New York State Police arrested a nursing home employee accused of slapping a resident under her care.

Valerie A. Giblin, 65, of Staatsburg, was charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.

State Police at Rhinebeck were dispatched to the Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center on Jan. 26, 2026, for a welfare check.

An investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Rhinebeck determined that Giblin slapped a resident while the resident was under her care.

Giblin was arrested on Feb. 4, 2026.

She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Hyde Park Town Court on Feb. 17, 2026, at 7 p.m.
