HAMPDEN, ME — The Hampden Police Department has transferred the lead of the missing person investigation involving Douglas Dunphy to the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-North.
The decision was made due to the increasing complexity of the case, according to Director of Public Safety Christian Bailey.
The investigation will benefit from additional specialized resources and expanded investigative assets by transitioning the lead role to the state police unit.
The Hampden Police Department will continue to play an active, collaborative role by providing personnel and local support to the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-North throughout the investigation.
