HAMBURG, PA — A man was arrested Feb. 5 at Hawk Ridge Shopping Center after police responded to multiple complaints from business owners over several days.
Joseph Spaminato was taken into custody at Redner’s grocery store following an investigation into a series of disturbances at businesses throughout Hamburg.
Business owners reported an individual entering their establishments, creating disturbances, damaging bathrooms and disrupting normal operations, according to Hamburg Borough Police.
Officers responded to each complaint and directed the individual to leave the premises and not return.
The individual would then move to another business location and engage in the same conduct, police said.
During the Feb. 5 incident at Hawk Ridge Shopping Center, officers determined through investigation that the subject had entered the store on a prior date and was involved in a retail theft incident.
The theft was captured on video surveillance.
Spaminato is being held in Berks County Prison on theft charges.
He has addresses in multiple states and extensive police contact, according to authorities.
Hamburg Police are encouraging any businesses that had contact with the individual and have determined he was involved in theft or other criminal activity to contact the department.
