HYANNIS, MA — A 31-year-old man has been arrested on child pornography charges following a search warrant execution and investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies.
James Christie, of Hyannis, was arrested Feb. 3 in Plymouth and charged with possession of child pornography and dissemination of child pornography.
Barnstable Police detectives, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police and the United States Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force, executed a search warrant at a Hyannis residence on Jan. 23, 2026.
The search warrant and arrest resulted from a CyberTip received by the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that was assigned to a task force officer from the Barnstable Police Department Investigative Services Division.
The CyberTip alleged that a device, later identified as Christie’s, likely possessed and disseminated child pornography.
The investigation revealed Christie’s cellphone contained child pornography images and evidence of online chatting where it is believed Christie was speaking with other individuals online about the sexual exploitation of children.
Christie was booked at the Barnstable Police Department following his arrest.
He was arraigned at Barnstable District Court on Wednesday.
Christie is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Feb. 25, 2026.
The case is being prosecuted by the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.
