AUGUSTA, ME — The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred Monday night.
The Augusta Police Department responded to a shooting at a residence on Flagg Street at approximately 11:15 p.m.
Officers located a deceased adult male upon arrival.
The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was conducted.
The cause of death has been determined to be a gunshot wound, and the manner of death a homicide.
The deceased has been identified as Billyjack Curtis, 51, of Augusta.
Police say there is no known danger to the public.
The investigation remains ongoing.
