SPRINGFIELD, MA — Members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit executed a search warrant Thursday that resulted in four arrests and the seizure of two illegal firearms, cocaine, fentanyl and cash.

The warrant was executed around 5 p.m. at an apartment on the 100 block of Woodside Terrace.

Police had been investigating a group of individuals distributing illegal narcotics over the past several months, according to the department.

As officers prepared to execute the warrant, several subjects observed police presence and ran back into an apartment.

Luis Baez, 41, of Springfield, remained on the balcony and was detained.

Members of the Emergency Services Unit then executed the warrant.

Julian Gonzalez, 18, of Springfield; Antonio Feliciano, 52, of Springfield; and Danielle Sperlonga, 37, of Lee, were detained inside the apartment.

Two subjects jumped from a third-floor bedroom window.

One subject escaped, while another, identified as Derrick Stenson, 25, of Springfield, injured himself in the attempt to flee.

Stenson was transported to Baystate to evaluate his injuries and was later issued a criminal complaint on firearms and drug charges.

Stenson had an active parole warrant at the time of the incident for removing his GPS ankle bracelet.

During the search, detectives recovered two illegal loaded firearms, an additional firearm magazine, a 29-round firearm magazine loaded with 27 rounds of ammunition and more than 140 rounds of loose ammunition.

Detectives also seized more than $1,500 in cash, approximately 25 grams of powder and crack cocaine and 17 bags of suspected fentanyl.

Gonzalez, Feliciano, Baez and Sperlonga were placed under arrest.
