Driver killed in crash into home in Somersworth

SOMERSWORTH, NH — A pickup truck driver was killed after crashing into a house on West High Street on Feb. 5, 2026.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the area of 18 West High Street at approximately 5:38 p.m. for a motor vehicle crash into a single-family home.

The crash involved a 2017 Ford F-250 pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on West High Street, also known as Route 236.

The truck struck a large snow embankment off the right side of the roadway and then collided into two legally parked vehicles.

The truck then went airborne into a house on West High Street, causing extensive damage.

The parked vehicles were not occupied at the time.

Three residents were home at the time of the crash and sustained non-life-threatening injuries from flying debris.

They were treated at nearby medical facilities and released.

The operator of the Ford pickup truck was pronounced deceased on scene.

The driver was identified as Michael J. Davis, 57, of Somersworth.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.

Investigators from Somersworth Police along with the Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team were requested on scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

At this point in the investigation it is believed that speed and alcohol were both contributing factors to this crash.

West High Street was closed to all traffic from High Street to Cemetery Road and remained closed until approximately 11:00 p.m.
