NEWARK, NJ — Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a woman wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that occurred on January 31, 2026.
At approximately 9:12 a.m., the ShotSpotter detection system detected gunfire in the 100 block of South 7th Street.
Surveillance video showed a Black male suspect walking off the front porch of a residence at that location with a black rifle and firing one round at the property.
He fled the scene in a black sedan, traveling northbound on South 7th Street.
Police are seeking to question Janet Jackson, 38, of Newark, regarding the incident.
Jackson is described as 5’3″ and 165 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
