Two arrested on drug, weapons charges in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT — Two men were arrested on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop on Jan. 29, 2026.

Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit conducted the stop at Grant Street and Branch Street after observing several traffic violations.

During the investigation, police seized drug paraphernalia, cocaine and crack cocaine, and a Taurus G3 9mm firearm.

The driver, Damian Rodriguez, 21, of Waterbury, was arrested without incident.

Rodriguez was charged with improper parking, illegal window tints, weapons in a motor vehicle, illegal sale/transfer of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a firearm without a permit, two counts of possession in a school zone, possession of a high-capacity magazine, operating a motor vehicle without a license and two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

The passenger, Nicholas Bonet, 35, of Waterbury, was also arrested.

Bonet was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession in a school zone and two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell.
