Two arrested on drug trafficking warrants in Brewer

BREWER, ME — Two people were arrested on outstanding drug trafficking warrants during the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Feb. 4.

David Zabala, 40, of Brewer, and Cassandra Cote, 34, of Bangor, were taken into custody by Brewer Police officers led by Sgt. Christopher Woodman.

Zabala, who was on bail for a prior domestic violence arrest, refused officers’ commands and resisted arrest, police said.

During the search of the residence, officers identified multiple safety concerns and located a deceased dog inside the home.

Zabala was charged with aggravated unlawful trafficking of schedule “W” drugs on a warrant, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, aggravated animal cruelty and violation of conditional release.

Cote was charged with aggravated unlawful trafficking of schedule “W” drugs on a warrant.

Sgt. Woodman was assisted by the Brewer Police Patrol Division and the Brewer Criminal Investigation Division.
