KEUKA PARK, NY — A student at Keuka College has been charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree following a social media post that prompted a law enforcement response to the campus.
Yates County Sheriff’s deputies issued an appearance ticket on Feb. 2 to an 18-year-old eligible youthful offender in connection with an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Jan. 28.
Deputies were called to the Keuka College campus after a report of an unknown subject on campus with a gun was posted on social media.
After a thorough investigation, deputies determined there was never a threat.
The post was traced back to a student at the school.
The eligible youthful offender will appear in Jerusalem Court at a later date.
