GREENBURGH, NY — A parolee was arrested following a reckless driving incident and brief police pursuit during the District Attorney’s Safer Highway initiative.

On February 3, at approximately 4:16 p.m., members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit, while assigned to the DASH initiative, attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2025 Chevrolet near mile marker 7.6 northbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the town of Greenburgh for multiple New York State vehicle and traffic law violations.

The driver failed to comply, leading to a short pursuit.

The driver, identified as Jose A. Martinez, 34, of Bristol, Connecticut, and the front-seat passenger attempted to flee on foot but were taken into custody shortly afterward with the assistance of the Town of Greenburgh Police Department.

Martinez was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor; reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor; and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

Martinez was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Greenburgh Town Court on February 24 at 9:30 a.m.
