BOSTON, MA — A lengthy narcotics investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately three and one-half kilograms of fentanyl, two and one-half kilograms of cocaine, a firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash in East Boston on Tuesday.
Detectives assigned to the Boston Police Department Special Investigations Unit and District A-7 Drug Control Unit, in collaboration with the United States Postal Inspection Service, executed multiple Suffolk Superior Court-authorized search warrants as part of the investigation.
The investigation determined that individuals involved in drug trafficking were utilizing the United States Postal Service to ship cocaine from Puerto Rico to Boston.
Investigators identified multiple parcels and locations in East Boston consistent with this trafficking method and coordinated surveillance along with a controlled delivery of a parcel believed to contain illegal narcotics.
Following the delivery, officers executed search warrants at multiple East Boston locations, including 11 Trustman Terrace and 906A Saratoga Street.
One parcel was recovered unopened and subsequently examined by investigators.
Inside, officers located two brick-shaped packages containing a white, rock-like substance that tested positive for cocaine base, with a combined weight of approximately 2,000 grams.
Investigators recovered a 9mm large-capacity semi-automatic firearm, a large-capacity feeding device and ammunition.
The fentanyl, some packaged for retail distribution, had an estimated street value exceeding $1,000,000, according to police.
The cocaine, some packaged for retail distribution, had an estimated street value exceeding $150,000.
Officers also recovered numerous pills believed to be controlled substances, drug packaging materials including heat sealers, scales and packaging supplies, safes and lock boxes containing an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, and numerous cellular phones.
Anny Perdomo-Santana, 35, of East Boston, was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court on charges of trafficking in fentanyl (200 grams or more), trafficking in cocaine (200 grams or more), unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm, unlawful possession of a large-capacity feeding device, firearm violation in commission of a felony and improper storage of a large-capacity firearm near a minor.
An additional individual was summonsed to court to face a charge of trafficking of a Class B substance (cocaine) over 200 grams due to medical considerations identified at the time of the enforcement action.
