BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Toms River woman was arrested on shoplifting charges after allegedly stealing groceries while intoxicated.
Patrolman Robert Murawski responded to ShopRite at 431 Route 9 on Jan. 6, 2026, for a report of shoplifting.
Upon arrival, Stephanie Woodford, 44, of Toms River, was highly intoxicated and requested medical assistance.
Video footage showed Woodford stole $244 worth of groceries, according to police.
Woodford was transported to Community Medical Center for medical treatment and was arrested and charged with fourth-degree shoplifting.
She was released pending a future court date.

Patrolman Edward LaGreca responded to a single-vehicle crash near Dover Road on Jan. 8, 2026.
A 2019 white Nissan Maxima struck several trees, and the driver was entrapped inside the vehicle.
Berkeley Township EMTs, the fire department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit responded to assist.
The injured driver, who was going in and out of consciousness, was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
No summonses were issued.
Patrolman Thomas Miklos responded to Corinth Place for a motor vehicle crash on Jan. 12, 2026.
A black 2002 Ford Explorer was lying on its driver’s side in the roadway, and a parked gray 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz showed damage on the passenger side.
The driver of the Ford, Edward Vancott, 50, of Berkeley, was found to be under the influence.
Vancott was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and reckless driving.
His vehicle was impounded in accordance with John’s Law, and he was released pending a future court date.
Patrolman Nick Bondulich and Patrolman Josh Packen traveled to Atlantic County Jail on Jan. 14, 2026, for a warrant for failure to appear out of Berkeley Township for $2,000.
Kimberly Kolesar, 50, of Burlington, was processed and transported to Ocean County Jail without incident.
Patrolman Nick Bondulich, Patrolman Michael Sasso, Sgt. Robert Flanegan and Sgt. Taylor Butler responded to Barnegat Drive on Jan. 24, 2026, for a report of property stolen.
A victim’s shed was ransacked and items were stolen.
Detective Jake Camaraza is investigating the incident.
Evidence was found at the scene and video footage has been obtained.

Patrolman Steven Scaturro and Sgt. Sean Varady conducted a motor vehicle stop near Frederick Drive on Jan. 24, 2026, for speeding and erratic driving.
The driver, Eugene Makulinski, 51, of Bayville, showed signs of impairment.
Makulinski was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to consent to taking a breath sample, refusal to submit to chemical testing, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to inspect and failure to keep right.
His vehicle was impounded in accordance with John’s Law, and he was released pending a future court date.
Officers responded to Veeder Lane on Jan. 31, 2026, for a report of loud noise coming from a wooded area.
Officers found deer hunters in the wooded area who were following state hunting regulations.
No summonses were issued.
