WATERBURY, CT — Two people were arrested Feb. 3, 2026, after police found them with a stolen vehicle at a tire shop on South Main Street.
Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit were patrolling the area of South Main Street and East Liberty Street when they spotted a red 2015 Honda Accord EX in the parking lot of 550 South Main Street that had been reported stolen out of New Haven.
Police approached the vehicle and found Jamaya Torres, 21, of Waterbury, standing outside while a tire was being repaired.
The operator of the vehicle, Henry Torres, 25, of Waterbury, fled on foot into the tire shop.
Officers found Henry Torres hiding behind a stack of tires inside the shop and took him into custody without incident.
Henry Torres was charged with interfering with an officer and larceny of a motor vehicle (second offense).
Jamaya Torres was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle (first offense).
