Sgt. Sami Zeidan and Ptl. Zach Borell were conducting a traffic enforcement detail when an Automated License Plate Reader alerted them that a Honda Civic passing their location had been reported stolen out of Connecticut.

Officers maintained visual surveillance of the vehicle and coordinated a motor vehicle stop with additional Bloomingdale Police Department units and the Riverdale Police Department.

The stop was conducted without incident, and all three occupants were safely detained.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of suspected narcotics, an illegal gravity knife and a stolen debit card.

All three individuals were placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing.

Further investigation revealed Rodriguez was wanted by Connecticut authorities for violating the conditions of his release by removing a court-ordered ankle monitoring device and attempting to flee the state.

All three individuals were charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, narcotics-related offenses, a weapons offense and possession of a stolen credit card.
