Man arrested on felony DWI charge in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, NY — A 45-year-old man faces felony charges after police responded to a report of an injured person at a convenience store parking lot.

New Hartford Police responded to Byrne Dairy on Campion Road in the Village of New Hartford at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 3, 2026, for a report of a male who had fallen down and injured himself in the parking lot.

Officers located Gerard Goings, of New Hartford, at the scene.

During the interview and investigation, police determined that Goings drove his vehicle to the Byrne Dairy parking lot.

Following field sobriety tests and the officer’s observations, Goings was placed under arrest.

Goings was charged with felony driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years, consumption of alcohol or cannabis while operating a motor vehicle, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Goings was processed at the New Hartford Police Department and transported to the Oneida County Jail to await arraignment in the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
