KINGSBURY, NY — A man has been arrested following a grand jury indictment on multiple drug charges stemming from a narcotics investigation.
Donte L. Shavers, 48, of Kingsbury, was arrested on an arrest warrant issued by Washington County Court, according to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy.
A grand jury indicted Shavers on five counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
The charges relate to an investigation into sales of narcotics in the town of Kingsbury.
Shavers was arrested in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and held awaiting extradition.
He was extradited back to Washington County to answer the arrest warrant.
Shavers was arraigned in Washington County Court and released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
Shavers’ co-defendant, Victoria L. Williams, who was previously arrested, is currently serving a five-year sentence for her involvement related to the same investigation.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit handled the case.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit assisted in the investigation.
