Man charged with murder in Oak Hill

WILMINGTON, DE — A 77-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his wife following a weeks-long investigation.

William Stevenson, of Wilmington, was indicted Monday by a New Castle County Superior Court grand jury in the death of 64-year-old Linda Stevenson.

Detectives from the New Castle County Police Division’s Criminal Investigations Unit presented the case to the grand jury in coordination with the Delaware Department of Justice.

Following the indictment, detectives responded to Stevenson’s residence and took him into custody without incident.

Stevenson was transported to New Castle County Police Headquarters and charged with one felony count of murder in the first degree.

He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $500,000 cash bail.
