Man charged in Ellenburg road rage incident

ELLENBURG, NY — New York State Police have charged a Hermon man in connection with a road rage incident on Star Road.

Tyler A. Donaldson, 48, of Hermon, was charged Feb. 2, 2026, with reckless endangerment in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree (intent to use).

On July 31, 2025, at approximately 8:04 p.m., troopers were notified of a road rage incident that occurred on Star Road in the town of Ellenburg.

An investigation determined that the operator of a silver Toyota 4Runner became irritated with the operator of a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, who had slowed due to road work in the area.

Further investigation revealed the operator of the Toyota 4Runner was Donaldson.

Donaldson passed the victim’s vehicle and threw a hatchet, which struck the vehicle and caused damage.

Troopers later made contact with Donaldson regarding the incident.

He agreed to report to State Police Champlain for processing.

Donaldson was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Altona Court on a later date in February.
