KINGSTON, NY — A California man was arrested on outstanding warrants stemming from a 2020 armed robbery case.
Florencio Valentin, 45, of California, was taken into custody on Jan. 29 on a bench warrant and charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree robbery, both felonies.
Valentin was originally arrested on Jan. 27, 2020, after allegedly stealing a wallet and cash from an individual while threatening him with a knife.
He was arraigned in Kingston City Court and released on his own recognizance.
Valentin failed to appear on the charges and was arrested on a bench warrant on March 30, 2020.
He was released again and failed to appear a second time, prompting Kingston City Court to issue another bench warrant.
In August 2021, Valentin was indicted for first-degree robbery and second-degree robbery for the same incident, and Ulster County Court issued a superior court warrant.
He was located and arrested in California on Dec. 19, 2025, on that warrant.
Following extradition, members of the Kingston Police Department and Ulster County District Attorney’s Office traveled to California and returned Valentin to New York.
He was processed and delivered to Ulster County Jail to await court proceedings in Ulster County Court.
