VASSALBORO, ME — A 48-year-old man died following a head-on collision on Route 3 near Ritch Road on Monday afternoon.
Ryan Page of China was pronounced dead at the scene after his Chevy Silverado pickup truck crossed the center line and collided with a Ford F-650 commercial motor vehicle around 3:40 p.m., according to Maine State Police.
The commercial vehicle was operated by Douglas Boivin, 64, of Jay, who steered right in an attempt to avoid the pickup truck but was unable to completely avoid it.
Boivin was not injured in the crash.
A third vehicle swerved to avoid the pickup truck, which had come to rest in the roadway, and struck a guardrail.
The driver of that vehicle reported minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by Maine State Police.
Troopers were assisted by MSP’s Traffic Safety Unit, MSP’s Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit, Vassalboro Fire and Rescue, Augusta Fire and Rescue, and Delta Ambulance.
