ALBANY, NY — A 55-year-old man has been formally charged with multiple child sex crimes following an investigation by New York State Police.
James Yerdon, of Adams Center, was arraigned on a sealed, four-count indictment Monday before Judge Roger McDonough.
He is charged with one count of predatory sexual assault against a child, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of sexual abuse in the second degree.
The indictment alleges Yerdon raped a male victim less than 11 years old on several dates between March 2023 and May at multiple locations in Albany County and other areas of the state.
The indictment also alleges Yerdon sexually abused a male victim who is less than 14 years old in the town of Colonie in late January.
Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon and New York State Police Troop G announced the charges.
The case stems from a State Police investigation that alleges Yerdon was traveling from Central New York and bringing victims to the area and elsewhere to sexually abuse them.
State Police believe there could be more victims from across the state and are urging the public to contact their local State Police barracks if Yerdon came into contact with them.
Yerdon pleaded not guilty Monday and was remanded to the custody of the Cayuga Correctional Facility, where he is being held on federal child pornography charges.
