Woman arrested on drug, child endangerment charges in East Otto

EAST OTTO, NY — A woman was arrested on drug and child endangerment charges following a search warrant executed at her home last month.

Deanna Dewald, of East Otto, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

The charges stem from a search warrant executed at Dewald’s residence on Dec. 17.

The search led to the discovery of unregistered handguns, two illegal long guns, stolen property, a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, scales and packaging, according to the sheriff’s office.

Dewald was arraigned at East Otto Town Court and released.

She is due back in court at a later date.
