TROY, NY — A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fire that was intentionally set at a residence Saturday morning.
Troy Police detectives arrested Derrick D. Moore, of Albany, following the incident at 170 1st Street.
Members of the Troy Fire Department and Troy Police Department responded to the residence around 7 a.m. Saturday for a reported fire.
Fire personnel located the fire in a common-area hallway of the residence and extinguished it, resulting in minor damage to the home.
No injuries were reported.
Police and fire personnel quickly determined the fire was suspicious, and detectives responded to assist in the investigation.
Investigators determined the fire was intentionally ignited and gathered a suspect description with assistance from individuals at the residence.
With help from crime analysts from the NYS DCJS Capital Region Crime Analysis Center and members of the Albany Police Department, the suspect was identified and located in Albany Saturday afternoon.
Moore was interviewed and charged with second-degree arson and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Police said they believe Moore was involved in a dispute with another individual associated with the residence, leading him to damage the property by intentionally setting the fire.
Moore was arraigned in Troy City Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
