Employee arrested following assault at group home in Hermon

HERMON, ME — A group home employee was arrested following an assault on a resident Jan. 31.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential group home at approximately 4:50 p.m. following a report of an assault on a resident by an employee.

Upon deputies’ arrival, it was established that the victim would be transported to the hospital.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the assault complaint and determined that Innocent Muzungu, 26, of Bangor, would be charged with intentionally endangering the welfare of a dependent person, a Class C felony, assault, a Class D misdemeanor, and obstructing the report of a crime, a Class D misdemeanor.

Muzungu was subsequently arrested and remanded to the Penobscot County Jail.
