MAMAKATING, NY — The New York State Police Child Abuse Unit in Sullivan County announced the arrest of Damien J. Bruce, 44, of Yonkers, on Thursday, January 29, for inappropriate sexual conduct with a child.
Police said they received allegations in recent days, in conjunction with Sullivan County Child Protective Services, that Bruce engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of thirteen.
According to investigators, the victim was an unrelated household member at the time of the incident.
The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Wurtsboro and State Police Wurtsboro barracks assisted in the investigation.
Bruce was arrested and formally charged with predatory sexual assault of a child, a class A-II felony, and criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony.
He was arraigned in the Town of Mamakating Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.
