ROME, NY — Oneida County Sheriff’s Office officials arrested Tiffany Gray, 36, of Rome on multiple charges including endangering the welfare of a child and witness tampering after separate investigations in January.

According to Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, who directs the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, Sergeant Melissa Bolton and Rome Detective Alexis Perry arrested Gray in the city on January 30 following an investigation by Sgt. Bolton earlier that month.

Authorities learned that on January 5, Gray permitted phone contact between two children and an adult male despite being aware of an active stay-away order of protection in place against the man on behalf of both children.

Gray was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors.

During a separate investigation, Sgt. Bolton found that on January 27, Gray engaged in a text conversation with a child witness in a pending Child Advocacy Center case, allegedly attempting to have the victim change her testimony.

Gray was additionally charged with tampering with a witness in the fourth degree and another count of endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors.

She was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility pending arraignment at Centralized Arraignment Court.

Orders of protection have been requested for the children involved.
