WEBSTER, MA — Webster and Dudley police officers located and helped rescue an endangered missing woman early Saturday after an extensive search along trails near the border of the two towns.
At about 1:00 a.m., Webster officers were called by the Dudley Police Department to assist in finding a woman reported missing and unable to walk, who had been outside for an extended period.
Police believed the woman was somewhere on a trail between Schofield Avenue in Dudley and School Street in Webster, but an immediate response from Webster officers was delayed due to an ongoing arrest booking.
Once available, Officer Alex Johnson of Webster responded to Officer Byron Lara of Dudley’s location and used a drone to search wooded areas for the missing woman, but initial efforts were unsuccessful.
Sergeant Sean Ebbeling and Officer Bryan Blomgren of Webster later joined the search, checking other areas.
At approximately 2:45 a.m., Sergeant Ebbeling found the woman lying on the ground behind Rampco.
Due to dangerously cold temperatures, Dudley officers requested an ambulance, and the victim was transported to UMASS Webster.
The woman was conscious and alert at the time of transport, police said.
