Man arrested in Cambridge shooting incident

CAMBRIDGE, MA — A Cambridge man has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Chestnut Street over the weekend.

Shawndell Johnson, 30, of Cambridge, was taken into custody Tuesday on charges related to the incident.

Cambridge police responded to Chestnut Street shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday after receiving a ShotSpotter activation and multiple 911 calls.

Officers located ballistic evidence and confirmed that a shooting had occurred.

No injuries were reported.

Police officers and detectives launched an investigation and uncovered evidence pointing to Johnson’s involvement.

Working with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Johnson.

He was taken into custody without incident.

Johnson is expected to be arraigned at Cambridge District Court on Thursday.
