UTICA, NY — A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with a stabbing that left a victim with multiple wounds.
Darius Marshall, of Utica, was arrested Tuesday and charged with attempted assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree.
The incident occurred Monday at approximately 5:20 p.m. near Elizabeth Street and Burnett Street.
Utica Police and Utica Fire units responded to the scene and found a male victim suffering from numerous stab wounds on his body.
The victim was immediately transported to Wynn Hospital, where he was taken to surgery.
Hospital staff performed life-saving measures, and the victim is expected to survive.
Investigators determined that an altercation occurred between the suspect and victim, during which the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Marshall was located Tuesday with assistance from the Mohawk Valley Crime Analysis Center and New York State Parole.
The Major Crimes Unit is handling the investigation.
