NORWALK, CT — A 22-year-old man has been arrested on multiple sexual assault charges involving four juvenile victims.
Francisco Javier Gomez, of Norwalk, was taken into custody on Jan. 27 in Marcy, New York, by detectives from the Norwalk Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.
The investigation began on April 18, 2024, when the Norwalk Police Department’s Special Victims Unit was notified by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office in New York that Gomez had been arrested for an attempted sexual assault of a 13-year-old.
Evidence obtained through court-authorized search warrants during the Putnam County investigation indicated Gomez may have committed similar offenses in Norwalk.
Detective English of the Norwalk Police Special Victims Unit led the investigation and worked with investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Stamford Superior Court State’s Attorney’s Office, and federal partners from the United States Attorney’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security.
The months-long investigation included the execution of multiple search warrants and developed probable cause to arrest Gomez for offenses involving four juvenile victims in Norwalk.
Gomez pleaded guilty to charges from the New York investigation and has been incarcerated in the New York State correctional system.
An agreement was reached between the State’s Attorney’s Offices in New York and Connecticut to transfer Gomez to Connecticut custody to complete his New York sentence while awaiting prosecution on the Norwalk charges.
Gomez was transported to Connecticut and arraigned at Stamford Superior Court on Jan. 28.
He faces charges including sexual assault in the first degree with the use or threat of force, sexual assault in the first degree with a victim under the age of 13, two counts of sexual assault in the second degree with a victim between the ages of 13 and 15 and the actor more than three years older, two counts of possession of child pornography in the first degree, two counts of employing a minor in an obscene performance, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, and three counts of risk of injury to a minor with illegal sexual contact.
