HOLYOKE, MA — A man was arrested late Monday after allegedly assaulting two civilians and two police officers.
Stefan Stauber, 37, of Holyoke, was taken into custody following the violent incidents, according to Police Chief Brian Keenan.
Officers responded to the area of 151 Chestnut Street at approximately 11 p.m. for a report of a disturbance and assault in progress.
When officers arrived, they located a barely conscious adult male who was allegedly struck by the suspect.
Stauber is also alleged to have repeatedly struck a female, who left the scene and was not immediately located.
Assisting officers located Stauber on an electric scooter near the intersection of Essex Street and Chestnut Street.
Stauber allegedly punched a female officer and punched and attempted to strangle a male officer.
Additional units arrived while Stauber continued to fight and resist arrest.
Officers eventually were able to take Stauber into custody.
The adult male victim and two officers were transported to a local hospital to treat their injuries.
Stauber is charged with two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery, strangulation/suffocation, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
