BENNINGTON, VT — An electric bicycle operator was transported to a hospital after colliding with a Vermont State Police cruiser on South Street on Tuesday.

The crash occurred at 12:53 p.m. near Weeks Street when Trooper Craig Negrin, 23, of Shaftsbury, was traveling northbound in his marked police cruiser.

Negrin attempted to pass Arianna Angell-Brinn, 21, of Bennington, who was also traveling northbound on her DYU electric bicycle.

As Negrin went around Angell-Brinn, she attempted to make a left turn onto Weeks Street, striking the passenger side door of the police cruiser.

Angell-Brinn fell off her bicycle after the collision and received minor injuries.

Negrin immediately stopped and rendered aid to Angell-Brinn.

Angell-Brinn was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center as a precaution.

The electric bicycle sustained damage to its handlebars, while the police cruiser sustained minor damage to the front passenger side door.

Angell-Brinn was cited for failure to travel in the left lane when turning left.

Road conditions were wet at the time of the crash, and weather was clear and cold.
