DEWITT, NY — A driver who fled the scene of a crash was arrested on weapons and intoxication charges Jan. 24, 2026.
Officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Burnet Avenue near Carr Street involving a vehicle that went off the road and struck a tree.
Upon arrival, officers approached the vehicle.
The driver backed up and quickly fled the scene.
Officers caught up to the vehicle and stopped it on West Manlius Street.
The driver, Frank N. Perry, 37, of East Syracuse, was found to be intoxicated by alcohol and subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.
An unlawfully possessed loaded Glock model 30 .45 caliber handgun was located inside the vehicle.
Perry was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and various traffic violations.
Perry was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center to await arraignment.
