CHENANGO, NY — A woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after stealing multiple vehicles, one containing two children.

On Monday at approximately 2:37 a.m., Broome County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol deputies responded to a 911 report of a stolen vehicle in the area of 1749 State Route 12.

According to witness reports, the owner of the stolen vehicle, a 2016 Ford Explorer, had left it running in the parking lot of the Dollar General on Route 12 as he was plowing snow from the same parking lot using another vehicle.

At around 2:20 a.m., the owner reportedly saw a woman enter his Explorer and drive off with two children, ages 8 and 12, still inside the vehicle.

The victim then pursued the stolen vehicle south for a mile on Route 12 before successfully getting the vehicle to stop near 1563 State Route 12, unlocking the vehicle and pulling the female suspect out of the driver’s seat.

The suspect then reportedly ran to the victim’s other vehicle and attempted to steal it as well, before the victim successfully pulled her out of the driver’s seat.

The suspect then reportedly fled southbound on Route 12 on foot.

As responding deputies made their way to the scene at 2:37 a.m., a suspect matching the description was located walking in the area of 1563 State Route 12.

Upon being approached by deputies, the suspect was extremely uncooperative, refused to answer questions and was subsequently taken into custody.

During the arresting process, the suspect reportedly fought with patrols and kicked a New York State Trooper in the face.

The suspect, Dana E. Dioguardi, 46, of Chenango, was then positively identified by the victim as the individual who had stolen his vehicle.

Dioguardi was charged with grand larceny in the 4th degree, a class E felony; attempted grand larceny in the 4th degree, a class E felony; two counts of child endangerment, class A misdemeanors; resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor; and obstruction of governmental administration in the 2nd degree, a class A misdemeanor.
